SKILLS TRAINER

SAM YOUNG

Meet Coach Sam Young, a Des Moines native and graduate of Iowa State University where he spent two years as a student manager for the Cyclones. During his time with the program he gained hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations behind the scenes while immensing himself in a high-level, winning basketball environment. His time on the court with players and staff at Iowa State along with a stint with the basketball staff at the University of Missouri have provided him with a well-rounded understanding of the game at multiple levels.
Through these experiences Coach Yough has had the opportunity to work closely with NBA players Georges Niang, Tyrese Haliburton, Matt Thomas, and Monte Morris further enhancing his knowledge and skill set.
Currently going into his third year as a varsity boys' basketball coach at Dowling Catholic High School Coach Young specializes in player development and analytics. Now in his second year of on-court basketball training he continues to deepen his expertise by learning from top coaches, athletes, and trainers. His passion for the game drives his commitment to supporting and enhancing the on-court skills of both boys and girls while bringing immense value to their growth and development.

SKILLS TRAINER

BYRON HARP

Byron Harp is a basketball skills trainer based out of Des Moines, Iowa. He works with players of all ages and skill levels including, youth/high school and college players. Byron grew up in Ankeny Iowa, and went on to play four years of college basketball. He started his college career at Kirkwood Community College where he went on to win a National Championship in his Freshman season. After two years at Kirkwood, he finished up his college career at Division II William Jewell College under legendary head coach Larry Holley. Byron got right into coaching after graduating from college in 2019. He started his career as a varsity assistant coach at Ankeny Centennial where he also played from 2013-2015. Byron would then go on to coach at two local Des Moines AAU clubs over the next 4 years, All Iowa Attack and Kingdom Hoops. This is where Byron found his love for individual and group training. He has worked with hundreds of kids over the last 6 years and believes empowering young athletes and fueling them with confidence is the key to success.
